Bio
Chris Vail’s career as a photojournalist, documentary producer, and editor spans several decades. He brings a unique perspective to each project, creating stunning visual stories with a focus on creativity and storytelling.
Based in Central America in the 1980’s, he covered the conflicts in that region and in Haiti. In the 2000’s he covered Latin America from Mexico City.

He worked on the PBS documentary series, “This Emotional Life”, and more recently produced and directed the award-winning video documentary series, Epic Voices: Countdown to a Cure, for amfAR.
​
Recipient of NEA and California Arts Council grants, he was an artist-in-residence at the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University.
Chris currently lives with his wife, Lucinda, on Roosevelt Island.
